![]() ![]() Reward their faithfulness with the knowledge that through them your purposes are accomplished through Jesus Christ our Lord. ![]() ![]() Let them share his ministry and consecration, that they may enter into his joy. Keep before them the example of our Lord, who did not think first of himself, but gave himself for us all. Grant them grace to give themselves wholeheartedly in your service. Almighty God, pour out your blessings upon these your servants who have been given particular ministries in your church. [We also recognize those persons who have been elected to office by the United Methodist Men, United Methodist Women, and United Methodist Youth (and other organizations as appropriate ) Let us pray. Do you this day acknowledge yourself a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ? Will you devote yourself to the service of God in the world? Will you so live that you enable this church to be a people of love and peace? Will you do all in your power to be responsible to the task for which you have been chosen? Live a life in Christ and make him known in your witness and your work. In love we thank you for accepting your obligation and challenge you to offer your best to the Lord, to this people, and to our ministry in the world. It recognizes your special gifts and calls you to work among us and for us. This ministry is a blessing and a serious responsibility. The pastor presents the leaders to the congregation and then says to them: Dear friends, you have been called by God and chosen by the people of God for leadership in the church. As a Response to the Word or at some other appropriate place within a public worship service, the pastor invites the leaders being recognized to come forward. This order may be included in a service of worship when elected or appointed leaders among the laity in the congregation are to be installed or recognized. INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS/LEADERS (AND CELEBRATION OF ALL CHURCH LEADERS). With other officers, foster the blending of all efforts to fulfilling the mission. Let us never depend upon worldly means to accomplish Your work-for our work is accomplished “not by power, not by might, but by the Spirit.”All:Let Your Spirit lead us.Yourselves in response to the call of the church to be installed into the active duties of. Help us to know that we will reap the harvest of faithful leadership, if we faint not.People:Let us never give up.Leaders:May we rely on the Holy Spirit both to enable us to lead and empower those we lead to advance Your kingdom. May we not be guilty of burying our God-given assets in the earth of excuses.People:Let us be eager.Leaders:Help us not grow weary in well doing, even when the task of leadership becomes difficult and fails to produce immediate results. Let us take up the mantle of servanthood and not merely wear our titles as badges of honor.People:Jesus requires that all be servants.Leaders:May we be eager to use the talents and resources that we have received from You, to advance Your kingdom through the leadership opportunity given to us. ![]() Let us not seek to rule, but to serve the church through the positions we are privileged to hold. Invite leaders and officers of other congregations to join in to give insight and encouragement to your new leaders.During the retreat, plan to honor current leaders on a personal basis for their contributions to the ministries of your church.1. In preparation for the retreat, ask each person to bring one item that has helped them to answer their ministry calling. While retreating each person can share with the entire team their faith journey. Retreat to a place for the leadership team to bond, fellowship, and celebrate the calling that God has given to each person. ![]()
